I was actually playing Guild wars on my boyfriends computer and account and I am now *officialy* it's actual owner cause he never plays on it

So I have 3 characters he has 1.

My storage is where I put all of my components, dyes and excess money and I told him he can take whatever he wants in it except for the *rare* components (specifies what rare is) the Silver and Black dyes and as much money as he wants unless he want to make big purcheses (which is really better to ask me for advice before doing so anyways)

All-in-all it's still going well

oh: an I specified that if every my friends PM him that he should tell them he's not me and using *this* account.

My wife and I share 3 accounts.. and she actually was the one whom got me into it... she has been a fps fan for about 8 years and ive been an rpg fan since i was 6 (22 now) we go willy-nilly (couldnt think of a better term god i feel old) accross eachothers accounts.. but leave dye and gold alone.. it works cause we started it at same time (well a day apart)

My younger brother asked to have a character on my account.
I said "Hell No"
He offered to pay me for a slot.
I asked him "per month?"
He said "sure"
I said "Still Hell No."
"Why?"
"Because I know the stupid things you're capable of"

To this date the answer is still no.

My b/f let me try out the game on his account, I fell in love and got my own about a week ago. I thought, hey, here's a way we can spend some quality time with each other. WRONG! We found out we have very different game play styles. He likes to work alone and he's a big farmer. I like to quest like crazy and have people around to share in the fun and glory. Oh well, at least we spend all those hours sitting next to each other.

My entire guild is built on people "trying it out" on eachothers accounts at one time or other. Guild leader got his wife addicted, they spread it to 4 other good friends, all ended up getting own accounts. Then one let me play on her account, I got my own, let my husband play on mine, he got his own. Most of us know at least 3 other peoples email/password. Never has been ANY problems. Course, all of us are all growed up lol.

My son had his own 2 accounts in Diablo 2, so he's very familiar with the do's and don't's. With him starting kindergarden this year, he uses 1 character slot on my wife's account cause I wanted him to have less computer time. While he will delete/recreate his own character depending on what he sees one of us working on at the time (he sticks with his smite monk now though, he likes it alot), he has never nor will ever delete one of her characters. He share's storage space but has never touched anything of hers. When he feels he needs gold for armor he asks us to have some and to help him buy it cuz he doesn't comprehend cost and supply needs. We give him spare dyes to keep him happy with 1 armor look by color changes. We did leave him an extra 2k for fun funds but saw him spending it on a ton of starter swords or something to the affect. He had a full inventory including bags of them. I asked him why, to which he replied "watch, you'll see." He partied with someone and a couple henchmen, went outside of Fort Ranik I think it was, and about halfway down the road he stops and starts dropping them in pile so to speak. The other guy ended up leaving, but my kid was laughing his butt off. Dunno why he thought it was so funny but o well, we don't leave him extra gold anymore lol.

but seriously, sharing accounts can lead to problems, especially with little children, imagine getting home and finding your fissure armor missing, that would be fun

as far as i know its against the Guild Wars User Agreement that you choose to accept when installing the game, to have more then one person play on the same account.

so probably best not to have anyone else play on your account.

whatever, Guild wars as no monthly fees and they did not charge for some of those large expention updates. So yeah, thats the point agianst sharing, they created a great product. and well, its only proper to do the little things they asks.

It really can be a problem with sharing accounts, or allowing someone else to know one's password.

We had a brand-new guildie, she had seemed nice on other quests. Then we decided to go to FoW.

We put it out over guild chat to meet at ToA. This person starts barking orders--still in guild chat--about how they have done this 900 times and the only thing that would work is this certain build they had in mind. "I will not go to FoW with a ranger." Also, mesmers were not welcome either.

This activity had been planned before this person even joined the guild, and now is feeling the authority to exclude anyone who wants to participate. I understand certain builds work better, but our guild is NOT about excluding people.

My first /kick. It didn't feel so hot to do it, but what they did really upset people who were looking forward to their first time in FoW.

Turns out, it was the original player's fiance who got on and was being so belligerent and bossy. I like to give people second chances, but this is too much risk. If that fiance gets on and starts being an ass again, and people don't know the backstory, there could be even more hurt feelings.

It's not my place to tell the person they need to change their password and keep it secret from their future spouse. It IS my place to make sure my guildies feel welcomed and included.

Intersting. I has been some time since I visited this thread. I'm surprised to see it's still active. Anyway, an update ot my situation with my son...

Well, as I said before, he has kept up his end of the bargain with all his activities and grades. He doesn't know my password and can only sign on when I let him. Being that he is still rather young he is supervised at all times while he plays. He actually prefers that because Old Dad can explain some stuff during missions to help him out... I sometimes have to jump on and type for him when his party is getting hit hard. He's still a little slow at typing. All in all it has worked out ok. I even let him goof around with my smite monk. He really liked that.

My wife and I have separate accounts and in pre-searing found some account sharing to be a way to gain extra storage. We each had a couple characters on the other person's account that we would dump stuff in. Kind of our own Xunlai agents. The storage in post-searing eliminated the need to continue doing that but some account sharing can be beneficial.

I let my sister play and i dont really get into any problems lol. Just need to say dont mess with my storage and you can do watever as long as it doesnt involve storage or my chars. So i guess it just depends if the other poeple playing on your account listen to you.

My response is this...

1. My son makes straight A's in school
2. Spends no less than 1 hour a day studying (home work or not)
3. Goes to Karate 2 times a week.
4. Spends Saturdays in Young Marines (boot camp at present)
5. PLays baseball when in season and foot ball when it's in season.

So, as long as he maintains those activities.. I can't Justifiably deny him video games if I myself enjoy playing them. In truth it's just one more way for us to connect and spend some time together. But I do realize there are those children that are allowed to veg in front of some sort of screen all day everyday. That's not right. I concede that point. However, that's not the case in my house.
you know whats sad that was me untill I met guild wars

Before the patch that let you change skill points my son changed all my skill points one day and totally whacked my warrior out. I was pretty upset, so I sat down with him and told him I'd never let him play again if he touched anything on my characters again. He got the point and now he's more schooled in the game than me on caster abilities, he also seems to be a master trader/seller and seems like he enjoys buying and selling things more than actually playing, except for the PVP. It's just best to set the rules with them ahead of time and if they don't abide by em, take the game away from them. That hits em where it hurts. It's a good life lesson.
